One side of the pan burns. The other stays raw. You rotate, you guess, you adjust the rack. Nothing works.
Uneven oven heat is one of the most common complaints we hear from South Florida homeowners. And almost every time, it's fixable.
Here's what's actually going on.
The Bake Element Is Failing
In electric ovens, the bake element runs along the bottom of the oven cavity. When it starts to fail, it doesn't heat evenly across its full length.
Signs it's going:
- Visible cracks or blistering on the element
- One spot glowing brighter than the rest
- Oven takes much longer to preheat
- Food consistently burns on one side
A bad bake element is one of the most straightforward repairs in the appliance world. One part. One visit.
The Temperature Sensor Is Off
Every oven has a temperature sensor — a small probe that reads the actual internal temperature and tells the control board to adjust the heat.
When the sensor drifts, your oven thinks it's at 375°F when it's actually at 310°F. Or it swings wildly between too hot and too cold.
This explains why a recipe that used to work perfectly now comes out wrong every time. The oven isn't broken — it's lying to itself.
A quick calibration test can confirm this. If the sensor is bad, replacing it usually solves the problem completely.
The Convection Fan Isn't Working
If your oven has a convection setting, it uses a fan to circulate hot air evenly throughout the cavity. When that fan fails — or even slows down — you lose the even heat distribution convection is designed to provide.
You'll notice:
- Uneven browning even on the convection setting
- Hot spots in the same corner every time
- Longer cook times than the recipe calls for
The fan motor is a replaceable part. Most repairs are done in a single visit.
Broward Kitchens Run Hot
South Florida homes run their ovens hard — and the heat and humidity here affect appliance components faster than in cooler climates. A sensor that lasts ten years in Ohio may drift in five here.
If your oven has been off for a while, don't just live with it. Uneven heat means wasted food, wasted energy, and an appliance that's working harder than it should.
We repair all major oven and range brands — Wolf, Thermador, GE, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and more. Serving all of Broward County and Miami-Dade, seven days a week.
Same-day visits available when you call before 2 PM. We quote before we touch anything.
