LG has been the #1 imported brand into the US laundry market for over a decade, and their French-door refrigerators are some of the most-installed in South Florida kitchens. The engineering is generally solid, but LG's electronics are tightly integrated — a fault that on a Whirlpool would be a $50 sensor swap is sometimes a $400 control board on an LG. Most of what we see in Florida is washer UE/LE error codes, ice maker failures on the LFXC and LFXS series, and the well-known linear compressor issue on 2014-2017 builds.
LG settled a class action over linear compressor failures in 2014-2017 refrigerators — the settlement extended sealed-system warranty to 7-10 years on affected models. If your LG fridge stopped cooling but the compressor is still running, this is most likely the issue. We diagnose with a sealed-system gauge, confirm whether you're inside the warranty extension, and either coordinate with LG or quote out-of-pocket replacement.
UE means unbalanced load — sometimes just rearranging clothes solves it, but if it persists empty, the suspension rods have failed. LE is the motor (Hall sensor or stator), common on direct-drive top-loaders past year 8. dE is the door lock. We ohm out the components in 15 minutes and quote the exact part.
LG French-door refrigerators (LFXC, LFXS series) use an ice maker module that's known to fail around year 5-7. You'll notice ice production slow, then stop. The fix is module replacement — we keep the part in stock for the common configurations, repair takes about 45 minutes.
LG's InstaView and Door-in-Door designs use a secondary hinge that takes a beating in a busy household. After 3-5 years the hinge can develop play that prevents the door from sealing properly — you'll see condensation around the seal and longer compressor cycles. Hinge kit replacement is $200-$300 with labor.
LG's inverter-driven motors and compressors all run through a main control board (PCB). Florida lightning strikes and power surges take these out faster than in other states. If multiple functions go out at once — display, fans, ice maker — the PCB is the most likely cause. We diagnose with a multimeter and quote OEM replacement.
Flat $75 diagnostic, applied to the repair. Most LG washer and dryer repairs land at $200-$400. Refrigerator sealed-system or compressor work is the high end at $400-$1,200, depending on whether your unit is inside the linear compressor warranty extension. Ice maker module replacement runs $250-$350. We carry OEM LG parts for the common French-door fridges, FH and WT-series washers, and DLE/DLG dryers.
