Viking built its reputation on commercial-grade ranges that brought restaurant cooking into the home — heavy stainless, brass burners, infrared broilers. The trade-off is that Viking ranges have more moving parts than most consumer brands, and after a few years in a Florida kitchen, those parts wear in predictable ways. Most of what we see isn't catastrophic — it's a single igniter, a control knob, or a thermocouple that's drifted out of spec. The repair is fast if you know which part to grab, slow if you're guessing.
The clicking is the spark module firing. If you hear it but no flame appears, three things to check: spark electrode position (often shifts after a burner cleaning), ignitor cable continuity, and gas valve. We diagnose with a multimeter and a manometer — usually a 20-minute fix. Common across the VGR, VDR, and VGSC series.
On Viking gas ovens, this is usually the oven safety valve or the oven igniter glowing weak. The igniter has to draw 3.2-3.6 amps to open the valve — anything less and the burner won't light. We measure draw, swap the igniter if it's pulled below spec, and confirm the oven sensor is reading within 10°F of actual temperature.
Viking-branded refrigerators after 2014 are built on the Whirlpool platform — same compressors, evaporators, and control boards as Whirlpool's high-end line. Common fail point is the damper control or the evaporator fan motor. We carry both as truck stock.
The Viking VDB-series dishwasher uses a standard inline drain pump — failures are usually a drain hose check valve clogged with food debris, or a worn pump impeller. Quick diagnosis, usually under $250 to fix.
Viking ranges use brass-stem knobs that can develop play over time, and the infrared broiler element burns out around the 8-10 year mark. Both are clean part swaps — no electronic diagnosis needed.
Flat $75 diagnostic, applied to repair. Most Viking range repairs land in the $250-$500 range — single igniter or knob assemblies. Oven safety valve replacement runs $400-$650 with parts. Refrigerator sealed-system work is more, but the Viking-branded fridges share parts with Whirlpool, which keeps costs down. We'll tell you upfront what the realistic range is.
